DAY 8 of 24 Day Challenge (JAN 15)

What’s more important when it comes to following Jesus, obeying the letter of the law, or living by the spirit of the law? Hello One Church, this is Day 8 of our 24-Day Challenge. Matthew 12 contains this encounter (one of many) between Jesus and the Pharisees. The Pharisees had set a trap for Jesus by asking if it was lawful to heal on the Sabbath – a day in which no work of any kind should be done.

Jesus responds by saying, “Which one of you who has a sheep, if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out? Of how much more value is a man than a sheep!” The message is clear, God values people over piety; love over legalism. The Sabbath was created to bless mankind with a day of rest; not to burden us with more rules to follow.
